The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has inaugurated a new extension office in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, as part of its efforts to expand its services and support economic growth in the northern Philippines. This new office, the 14th extension office of the SEC, aims to streamline registration, compliance processes, and other transactions for businesses in the Ilocos region.

SEC Chairperson Emilio B. Aquino expressed optimism about the opening of the new office, emphasizing the importance of creating a business-friendly environment that will encourage companies to incorporate and contribute to the region’s economic development. With over 12,000 registered corporations in the Ilocos region as of November last year, the SEC Laoag extension office is expected to facilitate and enhance regulatory oversight and investor protection efforts.

By establishing a presence in this growing region, the SEC demonstrates its commitment to improving the ease of doing business in the Philippines. The office will also work closely with local government units and stakeholders to promote the commission’s programs effectively.

In addition to the Laoag extension office, the SEC has regional offices in Butuan, Koronadal, Lipa, Baguio, Tarlac, Legazpi, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro. The expansion of SEC offices across the country reflects the commission’s dedication to supporting businesses, facilitating compliance processes, and safeguarding investors against fraudulent schemes.
