Delta Airlines saw a notable increase in its stock price following the release of its fourth quarter and full-year financial results. The company’s forecast for the current fiscal year suggests that it could be their best year ever. Delta exceeded expectations by reporting $5 billion in pre-tax income for 2024, with operating cash flow reaching $8 billion.

In other news, three out of the seven NBA games scheduled for Saturday have been postponed indefinitely. This is due to the California wildfires and a winter storm in Atlanta. Additionally, President Joe Biden’s administration has extended temporary protected status for migrants from El Salvador, Sudan, Ukraine, and Venezuela by 18 months, citing extraordinary and temporary conditions in those nations.

Americans can start filing their federal income taxes with the IRS beginning on Jan. 27. President Biden is also set to deliver a primetime Farewell Address on Wednesday night, ahead of his departure from office on Jan. 20.

On the legal front, Rudy Giuliani was found in contempt of court during a hearing in Washington, D.C., where he was accused of making false and defamatory comments about two Georgia election workers. Meanwhile, Meta, the parent company of social media giant Facebook, announced that it is discontinuing its corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion program due to a changing legal and policy landscape.

In business news, former WWE executive Vince McMahon has agreed to pay $1.7 million in fines and restitution for violating U.S. securities laws. Macy’s also revealed plans to close 150 stores in 22 states as part of its efforts to return to profitability. Additionally, the White House announced that a record 21 million new business applications were filed during the Biden administration’s term, with $183 billion in federal contracting opportunities awarded.

Finally, the Smithsonian National Zoo announced that giant pandas Bao Li and Qing Bao will make their public debut on Jan. 24.
