SolarEdge Announces Another Round of Staff Reductions
SolarEdge, a solar manufacturer, has announced another round of layoffs, impacting hundreds of employees. This comes after previous rounds of layoffs in 2024, which totaled around 1,800 job cuts. The company is aiming to reduce expenses by approximately $9 million to $11 million per quarter after the latest workforce reduction.
Despite the job losses, SolarEdge has been creating new job opportunities, particularly in connection with its facilities in Austin, Texas, and Seminole, Florida. These facilities have added around 1,500 new jobs, with expectations to increase to approximately 1,750 by the end of the year.
In addition to the job news, SolarEdge has been making strides in its product offerings. The company recently started shipping its new SolarEdge Home Battery ‘USA Edition’ to US customers. This move aligns with its commitment to provide installers with domestically produced batteries.
There have been recent changes in leadership at SolarEdge as well. Zvi Lando stepped down as CEO in August and was succeeded by Shuki Nir in December. SolarEdge is optimistic about the new leadership transition and is looking forward to driving the company’s growth under Mr. Nir’s guidance.
Overall, SolarEdge, founded in 2006, has expanded its product line over the years to include home batteries and EV chargers, in addition to solar inverters and optimizers. These products are currently available in Australia, showcasing the company’s commitment to renewable energy solutions.
