Patrick Donnelly, the longstanding general counsel at Sirius XM Radio, has announced his plans to retire in early 2025. This announcement was made through an SEC filing by the company, which also outlined a transition plan for Donnelly. To facilitate this transition, Donnelly will remain a full-time employee until April 4, 2025, after which he will transition to a part-time role until the end of the year. Once his successor is hired, he will act as an advisor to the general counsel.

Donnelly has an impressive tenure with Sirius XM, having joined the company in May 1998. His diverse background includes serving as a member of the committee of unsecured creditors during the Hertz bankruptcy process on a freelance basis. Before his time at Sirius XM, Donnelly worked as deputy general counsel at ITT Corporation and as an associate at law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

Efforts to reach Donnelly and Sirius XM for comment were not immediately successful. The retirement of a key executive like Donnelly is noteworthy in the finance and securities industry. As Donnelly moves into this new phase of his career, his contributions to Sirius XM will surely be remembered and appreciated.
