Amd Strix Halo APUs Performance Review in PassMark
AMD’s new Strix Halo processors, the Ryzen AI MAX PRO 390 and Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 395, have made an appearance in the PassMark benchmark database. Sporting Zen 5 architecture and RDNA 3.5 graphics, these processors are causing quite a stir. The PRO 390 comes with Radeon 8050S graphics, boasting 32 Compute Units (CUs). Interestingly, the 8050S outperformed the rumored 8060S with 40 CUs in the 3D tests.
If these benchmarks hold true, AMD has developed integrated GPUs (iGPUs) that rival the performance of entry-level to mid-range discrete graphics cards like the RX 7600 and RTX 3060. However, they do fall short of higher-end models such as the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070.
The Strix Halo series includes PRO versions aimed at professionals and non-PRO versions for gamers. While exact distinctions between these sub-series are still unknown, both are anticipated to support Ryzen PRO technologies, potentially offering similar performance capabilities.
Excitingly, AMD is scheduled to officially unveil the new Ryzen AI MAX 300 series at CES 2025, just around the corner. The tech community is buzzing with anticipation for more details on these upcoming processors. In addition, AMD is reportedly gearing up to release the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 GPUs, including mobile variants.
Keep an eye out for the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, expected to launch alongside FSR4 and Ryzen 9000X3D at the end of January. Stay tuned for further updates on what is shaping up to be a substantial addition to AMD’s product lineup.
