Lilium makes breakthrough in investor search
Lilium, the innovative electric aircraft manufacturer, has made significant progress in finding new investors. They recently signed an agreement with Mobile Uplift Corporation GmbH, a group of experienced investors from Europe and North America, to acquire the operating assets of Lilium GmbH and Lilium eAircraft GmbH.
This deal, approved by Lilium’s creditors committee, is expected to close in early January. It paves the way for the company to restart its business operations and secure the funding needed to move forward. According to German Insolvency Law, the proceeds from the sale will be used appropriately, with no distributions to Lilium N.V.
The agreement with Mobile Uplift Corporation GmbH comes after discussions with potential investors led by KPMG. These discussions were part of an M&A process aimed at restructuring Lilium GmbH financially. The goal is to enable the subsidiaries to exit self-administration proceedings, which have been ongoing.
After the deal closes, which is anticipated in early January 2025 pending certain conditions, including creditor committee consent, the plan is to implement the restructuring of the subsidiaries. This process will involve employing the terminated employees and restarting operations under the new ownership.
CEO Klaus Roewe expressed his excitement about the partnership with the new investors, seeing it as a major breakthrough for the company. The deal closing in January will mark a fresh start for Lilium, allowing them to move forward with their innovative work.
