eVTOL Company Lilium Announces Layoffs: Most Staff Affected, Reports German Media
Lilium, the eVTOL developer, reportedly laid off nearly all of its staff, totaling around 1,000 employees, on December 20, 2024. This news comes from German digital tech outlet Gründerszene, citing sources within the company. Although Lilium has not officially confirmed this information, reports suggest that only a small caretaking team remains.
This development follows Lilium’s bankruptcy protection filing for two subsidiaries on October 29, 2024, after failing to secure a €50 million support lifeline from the German government. Subsequently, on November 6, 2024, Lilium disclosed in an SEC filing that it was in talks with potential buyers and preparing to lay off 200 workers.
Despite ongoing challenges, Lilium reassured on December 5, 2024, that its aircraft development program continued, and financial advisors KPMG were actively working on a restructuring plan.
The fate of the company remains uncertain as it navigates financial difficulties. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
