Scott Schenkel, the former CEO of eBay who navigated challenging times at the company, is making a return to the corporate world. This time, he is taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Expedia, a travel company.

After leading eBay through a period of uncertainty following the sudden departure of CEO Devin Wenig, Schenkel faced several unprecedented challenges as the Interim CEO. He managed to steer the company through a federal criminal investigation and the transition to remote work during the pandemic.

Following the appointment of Jamie Iannone as eBay’s permanent CEO in 2020, Schenkel continued to advise the company during the transition period. Since then, he has sat on the boards of other companies, including Pinterest.

According to Expedia’s press release, Schenkel brings more than 30 years of experience in global business and financial leadership to his new role. His expertise in e-commerce, healthcare, and technology businesses will play a crucial role in shaping Expedia’s future.

Mr. Schenkel will officially join Expedia in February 2025. This marks his first position since 2020 and is sure to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the travel company’s leadership team.
