Big Lots Going Out of Business Sales: Locations in AL

Big Lots is gearing up for going out of business sales at all of its remaining store locations, as announced by the company on Thursday. With 23 stores in Alabama, including locations in Montgomery and Auburn, Big Lots is working towards completing a different transaction with Nexus Capital Management or another entity by early January.

Big Lots President and CEO Bruce Thorn expressed optimism for a potential alternative going concern transaction in a news release, stating, “We all have worked extremely hard and have taken every step to complete a going concern sale.” Despite this, the company has made the tough decision to begin the going-out-of-business (GOB) process to safeguard the value of the Big Lots estate.

The process began after the initial closures resulting from a sale agreement with a Nexus Capital Management LP affiliate led to Chapter 11 proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. In July, Big Lots initially announced plans to close 35 to 40 stores, a number that later increased to 315 in a subsequent filing in August.

While the exact start date of the going-out-of-business sales is not yet determined, the company assures customers that they can still shop at Big Lots both in-store and online during this transition period.

For Alabama residents, here are the current Big Lots locations that are still open as of December 20:

– 130 Covington Mall, Andalusia
– 3124 Mcclellan Blvd, Anniston
– 603 Us Hwy 72 W, Athens
– And more (list all 23 locations from the original article)
