Ambani, Asia’s wealthiest individual, holds the title with a staggering £8 billion net worth, making him capable of purchasing 20 Buckingham Palaces. His empire as the chair of Reliance Industries, one of India’s largest conglomerates, spans across various industries like petrochemicals, oil refining, telecommunications, and retail.

Born in Yemen in 1957, Ambani’s roots go back to Mumbai, India, where he grew up in a humble two-bedroom apartment. A far cry from his current residence, Antilia, a 27-story private mansion, valued at $1 billion, stands as one of the world’s most expensive homes, boasting three helipads, a 160-car garage, a swimming pool, and a private theatre.

Under Ambani’s leadership, Reliance Industries operates the world’s largest grassroots petroleum refinery in Jamnagar, India, with a daily oil processing capacity of 660,000 barrels. Additionally, he has been pivotal in India’s 4G digital revolution through Reliance Jio, offering millions of people affordable high-speed internet access.

Although his financial success is remarkable, Ambani has faced challenges along the way. Reliance Industries was fined in the past for stock manipulation. Moreover, Ambani himself has been accused of market manipulation, political corruption, cronyism, and exploitation, despite his immense wealth transcending even the UK’s average annual salary by 200,000 times.
