The funding will be used by Players Health to drive growth in various areas, including enhancing its AI-based product personalization, pursuing strategic mergers and acquisitions to broaden its market reach, and expanding its team to meet the growing demand for its specialized products and services.
As part of the funding, Walker Brumskine and Jake Harris from Bluestone will be joining the Players Health Board of Directors. Their experience in scaling innovative businesses will provide valuable guidance as Players Health continues to expand its services, which are already benefiting over 5.5 million young athletes nationwide. Notable customers of Players Health include USA Softball, 3-Step Sports, RCX Sports, American Youth Soccer Organization, and Orangetheory.
BMS Capital Solutions and Advisory served as the exclusive financial advisor to Players Health during the funding round.
In the words of Players Health founder and CEO Tyrre Burks, “With more than 440,000 amateur sports organizations and over 60 million people playing organized sports in the United States, the need to prioritize and enhance the safety and wellbeing of athletes has never been greater. This investment and partnership will enable us to continue expanding Players Health’s nationwide reach, fostering a safer, more supportive ecosystem for athletes at every level.”
Bobby Sharma, Founder & Managing Partner of Bluestone Equity Partners, emphasized the growth of participatory sports and the opportunities and challenges it presents. He stated, “This funding round underscores the need and opportunity to build the necessary advisory infrastructure to unify and streamline the fragmentation of vendors and services in today’s sports insurance market.”
As Bluestone’s Walker Brumskine puts it, “With its expanded capabilities, Players Health will increase its support of the entire sports ecosystem, helping drive collaboration between all stakeholders, including standardization of best practices for athlete safety and risk management across the country.”
Overall, this funding round signifies a significant step forward for Players Health in its mission to enhance athlete safety and support in the sports industry.
