Bob Menendez corruption charges in New Jersey
.S. attorney,” Johnson said. “It’s a brand-new administration.”
As far as I can tell, this whole saga isn’t quite over. Stein hasn’t yet ruled on Menendez’s request to throw out the verdict. He’ll do that in February. But the fact that prosecutors messed up as huge as they did will likely loom large in his decision.
Meanwhile, the trial of Menendez’s co-defendants continues. Could this be another giant setback for the very same prosecutors who not too long ago were busy high-fiving each other over the guilty verdict they got from the Menendez jury in July? Seems like that may be in the cards. In just a few months, we might see the Menendez case come crashing down because of one of the most colossal judicial errors I can remember in a high-profile trial in my lifetime.
