Tech giants like Tesla, Apple, Google, and Meta are making big investments in the security and travel of their top executives. These costs are all part of the overall compensation packages provided to these industry leaders. The specifics of these expenses were recently disclosed in documents filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

For example, Tesla entered into an agreement with a security firm owned by CEO Elon Musk in December 2023. The services provided under this agreement totaled around $2.4 million in 2023 and approximately $500,000 through February of the following year.

Apple, on the other hand, allocated $820,309 for personal security services for CEO Tim Cook in 2023. Additionally, his personal air travel expenses amounted to $1,621,468 that year. These costs were included in Cook’s “All Other Compensation,” which totaled $2,526,112 in 2023. Apple’s board mandates that Cook travels on private aircraft for both business and personal trips.

Google and Meta didn’t hold back either when it came to their CEOs’ security. Google spent a hefty $6.7 million on protecting Sundar Pichai, while Meta’s expenses for Mark Zuckerberg’s security amounted to a staggering $9.4 million.

Other major companies like Microsoft, Oracle, NVIDIA, Amazon, and Salesforce also incurred substantial costs for ensuring the security and travel arrangements of their executives. This substantial investment highlights the high price of safeguarding these influential figures in the tech industry.
