In recent news, some ag companies are having to make tough decisions to navigate the current economic climate. John Deere, for example, has announced that they will be letting go of around 100 employees at their Waterloo Works plant in Iowa starting next year. This comes as part of a series of layoffs by the company. According to their most recent earnings report, Deere cited decreased demand as a reason for the cuts and mentioned that they are taking steps to stay competitive in the market.

On a similar note, Butterball is also facing workforce reductions. The company has revealed plans to shut down its plant in Jonesboro, Arkansas, which will result in nearly 200 people losing their jobs. The closure is scheduled for early February, with production being moved to another facility. The CEO of Butterball expressed that it was a challenging decision to make but reassured that they will support the affected employees during this transition.
