Sonia Gandhi Accused by BJP: A Closer Look
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has leveled serious allegations against Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party. Following their accusations against Rahul Gandhi, claiming he engaged in treason, the BJP has now extended their claims to suggest that Sonia Gandhi is also linked to anti-national elements. In a recent statement on social media, the BJP implied that Sonia Gandhi is affiliated with an organization that supports the secession of Kashmir from India.
Continuing this line of attack, the BJP has alleged that Sonia Gandhi is linked to an organization called the Forum of Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific, which reportedly receives funding from the George Soros Foundation. Sonia serves as the co-chairperson of this organization. Furthermore, the BJP has suggested that reports against Indian industrialists were strategically placed before a Parliamentary session.
Expanding their claims, BJP has also implicated the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, accusing it of receiving funds from the George Soros Foundation which are supposedly being used to tarnish India’s image. The party has alleged that Rahul Gandhi often criticizes the central government based on reports from the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), an organization that receives funding from Soros. The BJP asserts that together, Sonia, Rahul, and the Congress party are attempting to undermine India’s economy and defame the Modi government.
It is notable that the OCCRP is an international group of investigative journalists. In a report last year, the organization accused businessman Gautam Adani of stock market manipulation and other irregularities. Rahul Gandhi has frequently cited OCCRP reports to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government.
In recent days, the BJP has intensified its criticism of Rahul Gandhi, alleging that OCCRP and he are colluding to destabilize India. During a press conference on December 5, BJP MP Sambit Patra referenced a French media report claiming that OCCRP receives significant funding from the US government and George Soros. The BJP contends that these efforts are part of a larger campaign to disrupt India’s functioning, hinder the progress of Indian industrialists, and cause losses to the country.
