Proposed Class Action Lawsuit Centers on Link to Adult Website on Mattel’s ‘Wicked’ Dolls

A South Carolina mother has taken legal action against Mattel, filing a class action lawsuit over a set of “Wicked” dolls that included a link to a controversial website. The lawsuit alleges that the dolls were marketed as family-friendly toys, but instead led children to a website with inappropriate content.

The mother, who is not named in the lawsuit, claims that she purchased the dolls for her child thinking they were safe and suitable for young children. However, upon discovering the link to the questionable website, she became concerned about the potential harm it could cause to her child and others.

Mattel has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit, but the company has faced similar issues in the past. In 2016, the toy maker faced backlash over a Barbie doll that was equipped with a microphone that some claimed could be used to spy on children.

As the lawsuit progresses, it will be interesting to see how Mattel responds to the allegations and what steps the company will take to address the concerns raised by the mother and others. In the meantime, parents are encouraged to stay vigilant and carefully review the toys and products they purchase for their children to ensure they are safe and appropriate.
