Merck Ranked Top on List of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2025
Merck, also known as MSD outside of the United States and Canada, has once again secured the top spot on Newsweek’s annual list of America’s Most Responsible Companies. This marks the second consecutive year that Merck has received this prestigious recognition.
Robert M. Davis, the chairman and chief executive officer of Merck, emphasized the company’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity. He stated that responsibility is a fundamental value embedded in Merck’s operations as they strive to save and enhance lives through their work.
To compile this year’s list, Newsweek collaborated with Statista, a global research and data firm, to evaluate 2,000 of the largest public companies in the United States based on revenue. The assessment considered 30 key performance indicators and included feedback from 26,000 U.S. residents.
In addition to earning the top ranking from Newsweek, Merck was also recognized as the leading company in its industry by CNBC and JUST Capital’s list of America’s Most JUST Companies, as well as Barron’s list of the 100 Most Sustainable U.S. Companies.
