The lawsuit may expand to include more vehicles if they show the same paint defects. The plaintiffs mention that Honda has previously released service bulletins or extended warranties specifically for the white paints mentioned in the complaint. Customer complaints, some as recent as the month before the lawsuit was filed, are also cited.

This is not the first time Honda has dealt with legal action over paint issues. A similar class-action suit in Canada was settled for over $27 million in 2022. Perhaps considering a more vibrant color option is worth it – it can definitely help spot your car in a crowded parking lot.

The affected cars are spread all over the country, indicating that the paint problem is not limited to specific regional climates. According to the lawsuit, the paint defect was already present when the vehicles were manufactured and purchased, but it becomes visible during ownership. The vehicles in question were made at Honda’s Lincoln, Alabama plant, where a robotic paint system was used.

The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial and various remedies, such as compensation for repainting, reimbursement of legal fees, as well as restitution, compensatory damages, and costs for economic losses and out-of-pocket expenses. Honda has not commented on the class-action lawsuit yet.
