Honda Owners Sue Over Peeling White Paint
80 percent of vehicles sold today come in grayscale colors, with white being the most popular choice. But for Honda owners, this trend has led to frustration over what they claim is low-quality paint. In a recent lawsuit against American Honda Motor Company, owners allege that paint used on 2013 and newer Honda and Acura vehicles is defective. Specifically, some white paints are said to “inevitably fail, peel, delaminate, bubble, and flake.”
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, points to specific shades of white used on popular models like the Honda Odyssey, Honda Fit, and Acura MDX. Owners have shared their complaints on forums and social media platforms, leading to a call for a more robust response from Honda.
This isn’t the first time Honda has faced legal action over paint quality. A previous class-action suit in Canada resulted in a settlement of over $27 million. As the current lawsuit unfolds, affected owners are seeking compensation for repainting work, reimbursement of legal fees, and other damages. Honda has yet to respond publicly to the allegations.
