100 Abuse Victims of Montreal Billionaire Robert Miller: Lawyer Statement
A class-action lawsuit application is being heard in Quebec this week against Montreal billionaire Robert Miller, accusing him of paying minors for sex. The lawsuit aims to represent anyone under 18 who was paid for sex by Miller or was a victim of sexual exploitation by him or another party determined by the court.
According to lawyer Jeff Orenstein, 51 women have already come forward to his firm, but the number of potential victims could be as high as 100 since some of the women claimed to have recruited others to engage in sexual activities with the billionaire. Miller, who is 81 years old, was the subject of a report last February by Radio-Canada and the CBC, which alleged that between 1994 and 2006, he gave cash and gifts to minors in exchange for sex.
Following the report, Miller resigned as CEO of Future Electronics and sold the company. In May, he was arrested on 21 criminal charges involving 10 alleged victims, many of whom were minors. Miller has denied the allegations in both the criminal case and the ongoing class-action lawsuit application, currently seeking authorization from the Quebec Superior Court.
